Recap of CA Cleanup Fund Task Force Meeting, 9-2-2009

Today’s meeting will be brief, as not much was discussed other than 1) items we want addressed in the Performance Audit being conducted by Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting; 2) Information regarding tax-exempt bonds and revenue bonds by Mike Paparian from CPCFA (Cal Pollution Control Finance Authority); 3) Short Term recommendations for Oct. 6 Board Meeting.

The first handout is the Current Status of Payments and Payments Review.
Checks have started to arrive for claims being paid with July’s revenues. They are not finished getting all of the claims being paid with July Revenues to Accounting for the final checks. They again reiterated that B claims approved that were received by the Fund thru 3/31/09 and C claims approved that were received by the Fund thru 8/31/08 will be paid with the July revenues.

The rest of the handouts are:
CIOMA Alert AB1188
CIOMA AB1188Ltr9-1-09
Sample Republican Senators AB1188
They are from CIOMA and all relate to a request for support for AB1188 (Ruskin), before the Senate Republicans today. This legislation includes the language to increase the UST fee to 2 cents per gallon for a period of two years and allows for financing charges to be an allowable reimbursable expense for a limited amount of time (the attachments do not outline the specifics of this). The fee increase is estimated to generate an additional $98M per year in revenue.
